You can add pictures to words to help with memorization. It will even say the word. There are even games. I also embed it into my Edline page for a quick review. This is iPad friendly.

Wordle.net Wordle is a toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. Wordle is a great tool when students are doing any form of self-editing. They can see if they themes and main points they want are coming through. It is also useful when understanding a historical speech because it lets you see which world are used most frequently by the speaker.
Gapminder This site is really cool. It is full of statistical data about the word and will allow you and your students to interact with the data and make discoveries. Click on "for teachers" for ideas on how to use gapminder in your classroom. Gapminder naturally lends itself to being useful in math classes and social studies classrooms. It can also be used to help introduce a time period when studying a novel in English or to enhance student understanding of a region or country in a language class. In Science class it allows you to view the changes over time of things such as life expectancy or human development.
